Auto-DJ in AzuraCast is a robust feature designed to automate your radio station's playlist and scheduling, ensuring uninterrupted 24/7 broadcasting. Follow this guide to set up Auto-DJ for your station.
Step 1: Accessing AzuraCast
1. Log in to your AzuraCast account using your station's details. Typically, this is found at the URL https://radio.sternhost.com
2. Once logged in, navigate to the "Station Overview" section and click on the "Manage" button next to your station. This will direct you to your station’s main dashboard, where you can manage all aspects of your AzuraCast station.
Step 2: Starting Your Station
1. On the AzuraCast dashboard, find and click the "Start Station" button located at the top-left corner of the page.
2. Clicking this will initiate both Auto-DJ and your broadcasting service.
Step 3: Uploading Media Files
You can upload media files to AzuraCast in two ways. For a small number of files, upload them directly via the AzuraCast interface. For larger quantities, we recommend using SFTP.
Uploading via AzuraCast Interface
1. Click on the "Media" tab, then select "Music Files" in your AzuraCast dashboard.
2. Click the "Select File" button or drag and drop files into the upload box.
3. Choose the media files (songs, jingles, ads, etc.) from your local device.
4. Wait for the files to upload; AzuraCast will process and organize them automatically.
Uploading via SFTP
1. Navigate to Media > SFTP Users.
2. Click "Add SFTP User" and enter the required details.
3. Save the details, and you'll see the connection information for your AzuraCast account, including the server name/IP and SFTP port. Use these details to connect via your SFTP client.
Step 4: Adding Music Files to Playlists
1. Go to your AzuraCast Dashboard > Media > Music Files, and select the files uploaded in Step 3.
2. Click on the "Playlists" button, choose the playlist to which you want to add the songs, and then click "Save" to update the playlist.
AzuraCast includes a default playlist you can use initially. If you want to create custom playlists with specific schedules and configurations, check out our guide on creating custom playlists in AzuraCast here
Auto-DJ will now start playing the songs from your playlists automatically. You don't need to restart your stream to pick up new songs; Auto-DJ will detect them automatically.
