Connecting to AzuraCast with a live encoder like BUTT (Broadcast Using This Tool) or other streaming software involves configuring the encoder with the correct stream settings provided by your AzuraCast instance. Here’s a general guide on how to do this:

Step 1: Retrieve Stream Details from AzuraCast

  1. Log into https://radio.sternhost.com
  2. Select Your Station: Scroll down and click on manage
  3. Go to Livestreaming Menu
  4. Click on "Streamer/DJ Accounts."
  5. Create or Edit an Account: Either create a new Streamer account or use an existing one. Make note of the following details:
  • Streamer username
  • Streamer Password
  • Server IP/Hostname
  • Port
  • Mount Point (usually something like /)

Step 2: Configure Your Live Encoder

  1. Install BUTT: Download and install BUTT from https://sourceforge.net/projects/butt/files/butt%20OLD/butt-0.1.39/ 
  2. Open BUTT and Add Server Information:
  • Under the "Server" section, click "Add" to configure a new server.

Enter the following details:

  • Name: Any name you prefer (e.g., "My Radio Staton").
  • IceCast or ShoutCast: Select IceCast option
  • Address: Enter the Server IP/Hostname
  • Port: Input the port number provided
  • Password: Enter the Streamer password
  • Icecast User: Enter the Streamer username
  • Icecast Mountpoint: (usually slash "/" ) 

3. Audio Settings:

- Select your audio input and adjust your audio settings to match your streaming needs.

4. Save and Connect:
- Save your settings and go back to the main window.
- Click "Connect" to start the live stream. The status should change to "Connected" if the setup is correct.
